Highly Recommended
Map Site
Members and general visitors to the CRS site will be interested in visiting http://www.railmaponline.com        From the opening page a full map of the UK can be accessed which can then be enlarged to show every railway line in the UK.     Not just today's network but  lines from the past have been overlaid.     As you zoom in sidings and even tramways become visible.    By moving a small 'man' icon with your mouse to any part of the map the image converts to google earth showing a recent ground or 'street' view.   I was interested in the Newport docks area where former GWR HST coaching stock can be seen undergoing processing.  The Avonmouth area too shows innumerable lines no longer in existence.    A view across Toton depot from the A52 dual carriageway shows the rows of redundant class 60 locos awaiting their fate.     Just the site for lockdown exploration and highly recommended.

Looking for new homes
London Trams
Roger Salter

These vehicles were used as living accommodation at Kenneggy Downs for many years by Mr & Mrs Ned Thomas.  In the early 1960's the old tram bodies they were moved to another location in the area where they have remained until mid March 2021, however as building work was about to commence on this site these historic vehicles have been been moved and  placed into temporary storage locally by Mr Andrew Newport, a haulage contractor and a transport enthusiast of Penzance. Mr. Newport  would like to find a good home for these historic trams where they can undergo restoration.
We don't know how these tramcar bodies once at Kenneggy Downs and later at Rosudgeon came to Cornwall - but it seems possible that they travelled by train.

Anybody any suggestions where they might go for restoration
Many thanks to Roger Salter for finding the trams and following them up.

Footnote - these trams were once part of a fleet of 150 trailer trams which were operated by the London County Council however it was found that with trailers in tow the speed of the tram fleet was too slow to compete with buses and they were dispensed to store. For more details please use the following link  https://www.canveyisland.org/history-2/old/tram-carriage/tram_carriage     one hopes that in due course the Rosudgeon trams will likewise be restored. Perhaps readers grandparents might have travelled in one of these along Victoria Embankment passing Big Ben!
