Chacewater
Roger Geach

Hello Keith,  I hope you are keeping well and safe in these strange times.

I have not been able to get down to Cornwall of late but have seen the fun with the class 47 charters this past weekend.
One of the locos 47805 was once Cardiff Cantons 47257 which was quite common working down to Cornwall back in the 1970s.
I thought you may like this picture of 47257 passing Chacewater station, which was largely intact, on the down side on 25th May 1976 .
This was the 12.10 Penzance to Paddington service. I did print this one in my Plymouth to Penzance book.
The other loco on the weekend special 47593 was once 47272 a Scottish loco so far less common down west then 47257.
Good the weather was kind to you
Cheers,  Roger Geach

Many thanks Roger for your invaluable knowledge.

The 37 continues up the branch. Clearly in view is the signalbox at one time situated on the down platform of Burngullow's 2nd station, the buildings which once served the former up platform still stand on the divide between the main and branch lines. 1990's Copyright Jim Lewis.
The signal box was closed in 1986 when the Burngullow to Probus section of the main line was singled, and the signals were then controlled by the Signal Box at Par railway station. The double line was re-instated in 2004.
Many thanks Jim.
