Today saw a midday return working of the Moorswater Cement, which is also one of the few last workings before the service stops altogether next month. I also got a shot of the Looe unit at St Keyne and a HST at Moorswater footbridge.

D1048 Western Lady was built at BR Crewe and went into traffic in December 1962. It is now resident at the Midland Railway Centre, Butterley.

A few more pictures you may be interested in of a couple of specials at Newquay
On the 4th October 1987 the family caught a special train from Birmingham New Street billed as the first HST service into Newquay.
On arrival there was a very pleasant surprise, 50034 & 035 in the adjacent platform on what was advertised as the last loco hauled service into the resort, the 08:25 Paddington Newquay.
I believe at least one other loco service did run after that before the run round loops were lifted.

The HST in platform 2. Nice to see an almost complete station. The stock of the 50 hauled special seems to have been transferred to platform 3. 4th October 1987;
