Devon Weekend Ramblings
Pt 2 Torrington Station
Andrew Triggs
A visit to Torrington Station after visiting Meeth, where it now trades as the 'Puffing Billy Trading Company', sadly it was closed so no inside shots could be taken, but the Tarka Valley Railway have their stock and base there, since forming in 2008. 2 Diesel Shunters 'Torrington Cavalier' and 'Progress' at either end with a Mk1 TSO no.3924, Oil tanker no.PO 653, BR Clay Hood no.743169 and Brake Van no.954681 were on site
            All the Best,  Andrew
Many thanks Andrew

St Erth Remodelled
Craig Munday
The recent enhancement works on the Bay platform are now largely complete. The new curved platform is exaggerated through a telephoto lens as the four car train awaits departure, still controlled by semaphore signals. The new high density platform and car park spaces has resulted in the Park and Ride station at Lelant Saltings being effectively closed - only one train a day currently serves the station.  Lelant Saltings opened in 1977 and revolutionized day trips to the road congested resort. An improved journey time of 11 minutes now applies without the Saltings call.

Also of note is the still extant, though shortened Bay Siding to the right hand side.

                     Kind regards,  Craig Munday

Many thanks indeed Craig, your privileged views are much appreciated.

A brilliant sight at
Bristol Temple Meads
Paul Negus

What a lovely sight - a rake of ten gleaming red and cream coaches under the train shed at Temple Meads this morning! It's great to see coaches with no peeling roof paint and I do like Saphos Train's logo.

Braunton and support coach - red and cream too - plus two Class 47s were tucked away in Barton Hill TMD just to the east of the station.

These had formed the English Riviera Express which featured on the website yesterday.

        Best wishes, Paul Negus
Many thanks Paul.
