It is hope that all members will have received our latest very fine  Autumn 2022 magazine prepared by editors John Gilbert and Nickolas Kiszczuk. You will have either collected this at our last meeting or it has been posted to you.
However each magazine should have included a copy of the CRS Members Photographic Competition  Entry Form, if not we apologise.

Please find below images which you can use to print your own entry forms or alternatively take down down the required details to submit with your entries.

Welsh Carriage Destination Board
A reply by
Guy Vincent
Good morning Keith In answer to Andrew & Diane Jones question regarding what would appear to be a carriage destination board displayed in their holiday cottage, I offer the following. The board looks to be painted in chocolate and cream so this places it in the late 1950s to mid 60s period. From 1955 chocolate and cream livery was applied to selected WR coaching stock in place of the then standard maroon and WR timetables and other publications also used it. The new BR corporate image arrived in 1965 and the boards were quickly replaced by paper window stickers and then presumably disposed of. The 1962-63 BR WR timetable details ‘The Pembroke Coast Express’ and this would seem to have been the most likely candidate for this particular board. I have copied the relevant pages for reference. Finally, Cecil J Allen’s book ‘Titled Trains of the Western’ (Ian Allan 1974) is a very useful source of reference for this particular subject. With regards Guy Vincent.
