Many thanks indeed Paul for your efforts to secure the monster.  Very well caught.
How the monster works

But honestly with the restricted spray over the trains and the improved design seawall that will send waves back out to sea, I think the excitement will be ruined and therefore I'm against the project 😡😆 Comments and link supplied by Paul Roach.
From the black bridge in 1970
Truro Yard
The late John Vines

Hello Keith,
Following the success of Dad's Looe branch pictures on the website I mentioned that there are a few others which you may be interested in, which Dad took in more recent times.  The four attached are not of great quality as the negs have been lost, but they are interesting record shots of Truro yard and depot taken in 1970, before the major rationalization of the following year.  They are largely self-explanatory except that the arriving class 47 is no.1915 on the 09.00 Penzance-Manchester.
I hope they might be useful additions to the website.
Best wishes, Andrew

Many thanks indeed Andrew, really nostalgic - thousands of us must have looked from the black bridge but how many photographed it.

Ruthern Branch
Andrew & Diane Jones

News on the rebuilding of the original Ruthernbridge Railway, Grogley Camel River crossing bridge damaged earlier in the year, is unfortunately still wrapped in bureaucracy. Since closure of the railway in 1933 the bridge has provided vehicle access to Grogley Halt, but approx a year ago contractors resurfacing the Camel Trail drove a 20 ton lorry over the bridge which apparently gave way on a small section exposing the original concrete deck. Bridge construction at the turn of the century using concrete was rudimentary and it was found on inspection not to contain any steel reinforcing.
I have attached some recent photographs.
Grogley Halt car park was always well used and the restriction of access to pedestrians and cyclists is causing many parking problems locally.
It appears that Cornwall Council are not prepared at this stage to rebuild the deck and may not allow vehicle access in the future. Only time will tell.
Best wishes Andrew and Diane

Many thanks or keeping an eye on the works in your area.

Fowey Branch Film
Andrew Jones

p.s. the recent Cornish Memories 8mm film clips of the Lostwithiel to Fowey Branch are extremely interesting and if anything better produced then the previous Bodmin to Padstow film.
The shots around Fowey station and the docks line are extremely rare. Did you notice the power station incline which appeared briefly and the extensive yard lighting at Lostwithiel. Just wonderful hopefully more films like this will show up over time.

Thank you Andrew and Diane.
