Saturday Freight
Jon Hird

For we enthusiasts, one of (perhaps the only?) upside to the CDA's finishing earlier this year has been the return of a regular Saturday morning freight train into the county. The empty JIA's return from Exeter Riverside on a Saturday morning nowadays, ready to be taken up to Goonbarrow early on Monday morning for loading and onwards tripping to Fowey Carne Point.  I headed to Lostwithiel this morning in some pretty poor light to get a shot, then popped in at St. Blazey on the way home to see the shunting.

After I left, the final 10 scrap CDA's were shunted from the siding nearest the road to the Henry Orchards disposal siding, so they don't appear to have long left in this world.

(All drone shots were taken in compliance with current CAA regulations for the class of device used.  A flight plan was filed in advance to relay my intentions to any third parties with a responsibility for assets on the ground beneath).
