Hello Roger, Nice pictures at Southampton,quite a day out from your end. Here is a picture taken at Plymouth on 4 August 1997 showing power car 43173 arriving with the 06.36 departure from Paddington. In the sidings we can see the ends of the EX E.R emus which were converted to driving Van trailers for use on mail and parcels workings. Copyright Michael Forward

An Hour at Swindon

​[1]  6C50 Oxford (Banbury Road) to Whatley Quarry  -  2 LATE passing platform 4 after coming out of Swindon East Loop

[2]  Non-stop passing platform 4 was 6Z86 West Drayton to East Usk Yard, Newport, Gwent. headed by 66542

[3]  60015 prepares to sort out its train [which would be 6M53 due to leave around 4 o'clock. 
From the exhaust it is clear that the diesel engine is warming up from 'cold.'
