15th September 2022

In the early hours at
Liskeard
Driver Alan Peters

Colas Rail worked 6C42 from Westbury for a ballast drop on the Looe branch formed of top and tailed class 70's and 5 auto hopper wagons in the early hours of 14th September 2022, dropping ballast between Bolitho accommodation crossing and Coombe Junction in the pouring rain!

Liskeard

A damp Tuesday morning at Liskeard.

(2) It's 12.17 at Liskeard as 43022 leads the 08.00 Cardiff Central - Penzance on platform 1. A young lady on platform 2 watches the 08.50 Penzance - Cardiff Central arriving as a nervous camera holder on the footbridge is desperately photographing both trains as well as catching the same train home.
Picture
(3) The weather forecast was for cloud and precipitation but it went very murky at 10.50 as a shower passed by. A five-car Voyager arrives in the gloom with the 09.25 Penzance - Edinburgh. Looking forward to this train hopefully being an HST Monday to Friday next week with a diversion via Westbury. 13th September 2022. Copyright Clive Smith

4) The pretty flower displays are in bloom as 150249 departs Liskeard platform 3 with the 11.36 to Looe.
Well done on a dismal day though the lighting conditions make for good pictures of the glistening trackwork. We appreciate your concern for your connecting you mention in picture 2.  Thanks Clive.

Duchess returns
Twerton
Paul Negus
A couple of shots (in rather difficult lighting conditions) of Duchess of Sutherland approaching the station building of Twerton-on-Avon, located west of Oldfield Park Station, over Brunel's Grade II listed Twerton viaduct. This was the Belmond Pullman: Historic Bath by Steam tour, which was returning to London Victoria Station this evening.

Twerton-on Avon was so called to distinguish it from Tiverton (source: Wikipedia) and was closed due to competition from the electric trams which ran underneath the very bridge on which the platforms were located! The station building is now used by a local property maintenance company as their office and stores.

Kind regards, Paul Negus
