Bathpool (Taunton)
Bill Elston

Hi Keith,
A GBRf - operated rail delivery train ran today, 6G97. 1523 Westbury to Par. It was hauled by MSC - liveried 66709 Sorrento, and tailed by 66770.
As it was running some 20min early, I headed to my 'go-to' location of Creech st Michael  to see it but it was cut off by flood water, so I dashed round to Bathpool, and was lucky enough to catch it with 5 min to spare!
As can be seen from the photos, the River Tone was in full flood.
Best regards,  Bill

Many thanks Bill. As can be seen furrther down in this News Column 66709 completed its journey right down to Penzance. It is nigh on impossible to keep all entries in time order - but many thanks to you all for your support.

Plymouth Power Cars
Andrew Triggs
Evening Keith/Roger,
The first jolly of the year to capture recently repainted (again) 43184, which was working 1V50 and 1E63 on the day for Cross Country Trains, with a trip thrown in to Laira T&RSMD, again to make the most of the remaining Power Cars stabled there, some in service with others now withdrawn and their days numbered, time waits for nothing and no one
All the Best
Andrew

Truro Yard
Mick House
I was out and about this morning (14th Jan) photographing DR80210 Pandrol Jackson Stoneblower in Truro Yard and as usual when you are about to go, the crossing barriers come down and as it was a Castle Set about to departed Truro Station and we know that they are not long for this world I thought I better catch it departing. The set with 43 029 (Caldicot Castle) on the front and 43 188 (Newport Castle) at the rear passed over Truro Level crossing at 09.31 forming a Penzance to Cardiff service.

Regards Mick

Floods

Hi Keith.  I’ve been travelling to Bristol regularly but strikes etc have meant a greater use of my car unfortunately and hence no photos. Today  (14th January 23) however I ventured forth by train but my service was terminated at Weston due to flooding somewhere between there and Bristol TM. Hence a quick hop on the bus from WSM to Bristol. My journey home is, currently, going to plan by train with an on time departure from TM. Here’s a rather poor picture (from the window of a GWR Castle set) of flooded fields just East of Cowley Bridge Junction. Oh and it was a good day at the football with a fine 4-2 win. Cheers Martin
Many thanks Martin  hope you got home okay.

B & W Movements
Jon Hird

Hi Keith/Roger,  The BWR had another move around today. 50042 and a couple carriages were taken to Bodmin Parkway by 47306, and a couple of other coaches were propelled back up to General.
I’m sure Chris Bellett will have some photos from the signal box for you too..?
A very interesting day watching the big shunt at Parkway and luckily the weather was kind, too.
I’ve tried to attach the photos in the order that things happened, I’m not sure whether they will arrive with you in the same order though!
All the best, Jon Hird

Many many thanks Jon, we normally limit it to a max of six pictures a session but as the B & W had a megga session we'll have a few extra.
