Wheal Jenkin
The Liskeard & Caradon Railway
Jon Hird

Picture
Wheal Jenkin Mine with its engine house and the embankment of the long-gone Moorswater to Minions section of the Liskeard & Caradon Rly. The row of houses are Duchy Terrace, a row of houses built for the mine captains. On the hill in the background is Phoenix United Mine and The Cheesewring, both of which were also rail served (Phoenix United used a narrow-gauge railway to ferry its product to the L&CR siding). Picture
Moving a little closer to Wheal Jenkin, the embankment of the former railway line is immediately apparent and appears to be in good condition. This 'branch' of the line was constructed after the main line had been put in place to Caradon. Copyright Jon Hird.
Much more information about the fascinating Liskeard & Caradon Railway can be found within the lines own section of our website. Please click here to visit.

Passing time at
Exeter St. Davids
Martin Scane

Hi,

I had a forty five minute wait at Exeter St Davids at lunchtime today (14.02) so took a few photographs which might be of interest.

Best Regards
Martin

A morning at Truro

Some different views of Truro station. It won't be the same withpout the clanking of the semaphores.

Another minute to go at platform 3 upside as the 2P24 15.15 Penzance - Plymouth with HST power car 43097 has 'the road' set by the up home signal T6 immediately in front of the level crossing and the signal box. 27th January. Copyright Clive Smith.

Many thanks indeed, Clive, for sending these in. We'd encourage anyone who'd like to soak up the atmosphere of a busy station complete with working semaphores to get down to Truro for an hour soon, before it's too late.
Once they're gone, they're gone.
