N.B. Editors dilemma!   Two very good friends David Tozer and Keith Turley stood at almost the same spot at Cockwood to photograph the same train. In what order should their pictures go on site? Well D.T.s were received at 19.34 and K.T.s at 19.58. I hope you weren't racing - can't afford to lose either of you, but very many thanks to you both. K.J.
Hinksley Yard
Rail Riders
Driver Alan Peters
DB 66175 is the current locomotive named 'Rail Riders' which was the Hinksey yard pilot on 6th September 2022, A close up of the nameplate which incorporates the APT logo. A picture of the original 47406 'Rail Riders' at Saltley in 1986 - Alan Peters

Rail Riders, was a club for young rail enthusiasts run by British Rail in the United Kingdom between 1981 and 1991. Membership entitled children aged 5-15 to discounted rail travel, receipt of a regular quarterly magazine called Rail Riders Express and free entry to the Rail Riders World model railway exhibit at York Station. On 8 October 2019 it was announced that a new club, unconnected with the original, would revive the 'Rail Riders' name and would be launched in February 2020, nearly 30 years after the original club closed. The club sponsored two class 47 locomotives, one from 1981 to 1988 and another from 1988 to 1992. These were 47406 Rail Riders and 47488 Rail Riders. Tailpiece to
Railriders
Trevor Tremetick

I was interested in the piece on the Rail Riders locos that I saw on the site this morning. This is my shot of 47406, the (I think) original ‘Rail Riders’, unfortunately not in the West Country, but near Potters Bar on the ECML with the 1H95 17.13 Kings Cross to Peterborough service on August 15, 1986. She was a Gateshead engine at the time.

Many thanks Trevor - well spotted.
