A Walk in the New Forest
Michael Forward & Michael Adams
Picture
Hello Roger, I see you had a nice trip to the Plym Valley railway and good weather. Many years ago we would have an annual walk from Beaulieu Road station to Brockenhurst and here is a picture, taken at the start of the walk on 11 September 1991, of 47448 on a Poole to Derby working. My knees would not allow such things now!. Copyright Michael Forward

Many Thanks to the Two Michaels

Dawlish Holiday

We are spending a few days in Teignmouth. Here are a few shots from today :
The HST power car is the 12:37;0Z30 Laira to Derby RTC running some 26 mins late.
66185 is the 11:47 Westbury to St Blazey (0Z66) running 36 mins early.
The 800 is 1A81 Paignton to Paddington running along a busy sea wall on a glorious morning.

Cheers, Martin Scane

Hope you had a very enjoyable holiday - the weather looks good. I don't know that I've ever seen a solitary HST power car out on its own on the main line. We follow this power car up the line on its way to Derby in the following pictures. Your picture of the PC at Teignmouth station shows some remarkable detail of the stonework in the building walls.   Many thanks Martin.

Many thanks to you Paul for another of your remarkable drone pictures. Quite how you manage to take your drone shot as well as a canalside view of the same PC, I'd be afraid that the drone would go wandering off. On another point the PC looks remarkably clean, I wonder how it is possible to remove the branding
vinyls which have been in position for years having stayed there through many a wash down without a trace?

Maiden Newton
James Bown

I took the train from Maiden Newton (formerly junction for the Bridport branch) to Gloucester today 10th October 2023. The Class 166 looked a little ‘tired’ but produced a reasonably smooth ride on this scenic ( in parts) journey. Regards James Bown
