Having heard from David Tozer that engineering works were taking place at Exmouth Junction and the uncertainly of the Camping Coaches at Dawlish Warren I decided come what may to have a trip to Glorious Devon in the middle of winter with gale force winds at Dawlish breaking over the train. Trains early on New Years Day are only lightly loaded, so I logged the numbers joining on route. The 07.41 Penzance had 6 St Erth 4 joined, Camborne 1 Redruth 1 Truro 19 St Austell 12 Par 6 Bodmin Parkway 17 Liskeard 25 St Germans 2 Saltash 5 Plymouth 37 Ivybridge 3 and Totnes 30 before I alighted at Newton Abbot
Todays activity at Blackboy Tunnel. Why they call it Blackboy Tunnel always bewilders me as it is some distance from Blackboy Road. I always call it Mount Pleasant as Mount Pleasant Road passes over it.
Roger is being blown about at Dawlish.
Dave Many thanks David - welcome back and all the best to you.
I hope you had a super Christmas, here's to a train filled 2016!. My last shift of 2015 was appropriately in the box. Here are some shots from the final hours of 2015. I;m delighted to report the boxes are staying a good bit longer than we feared. The pendulum of closure has swung away from us.
A Freight Exeter bound with 66149 brightened up an otherwise quiet shift at Lostwithiel, but there was even some sunshine on a Plymouth bound unit.
All the best, Craig To your best wishes are added mine to you and all our readers, many thanks for your support in 2015
