(From the Western Morning News)
Bidders are set to get all steamed up when a Holiday Park with a difference, chalets in converted rail coaches comes to auction. The iconic Brunel Camping Coach site of 50 years is being sold with a Freehold Guide Price of £125.000 - £175.000 its among the West Country lots listed for Sale by Clive Emson on Thursday November 3rd 2016 at the St Mellion International Resort.
The Holiday Park has eight coaches named after Cities on the Great Western Railway and remained open throughout this summers season.
The Auctioneers are expecting a great deal of interest especially among the railway fraternity. Thanks to Roger Salter
It may be of interest for the CRS web site that under the new Cross-Country franchise awarded to Arriva, the company undertake to fit the XC HST fleet with power doors. This indicates an intention to operate the HSTs beyond 2019 and, presumably, to make interior modifications to comply with disability access regulations which come into force from 2020. Similar modifications would also be needed if, as is expected, some GWR HSTs are retained in shorter formations to operate beyond 2019. In the latter case, the cost of modifications would apply to fewer vehicles but the XC HSTs are likely to continue as full-length trains.
Kind regards, Derek
Of very great interest, many thanks Derek
